Free Group Shoots originated in late 2002 in Austin, Texas, as a means for photographers and models/talent to meet and test shoot with one another. There are no fees to attend as model or photographer, with the shoots working very much like traditional TFP. For a time, the shoots spread out into additional cities, but are now concentrated back strictly in the Austin area and continue with the same attitude and for models of all ages.

Our mission is to provide opportunities for new models and talent to work with aspiring and professional photographers in gaining both camera experience, as well as to help begin building the foundation for model portfolios and actor headshots. For photographers, we offer the opportunity to shoot with a wide variety of talent of all types and ages. The FreeGroupShoot events are not "glamour" oriented and each month features a new theme in order to provide variety for anyone coming out to multiple events. The objective of the shoots is to produce images in mainstream commercial and editorial styles. These free monthly photo shoot events also offer an opportunity for potentially being published and to make money via shooters doing stock image work. Models and Talent receive free images via either CD or download - and without any fee or donation ever having been asked for at any time. An average shoot can feature as many as a dozen photographers and we have had up to 30 or 40 models attending a single shoot event. These truly are fantastic photo opportunities for the models/talent and the photographers alike!

Many model and actor portfolios are filled with images obtained at these popular FreeGroupShoot events. Do not be confused by imitation "free group shoots." While it is likely that there are similar events available that borrow some of the same principles as those from FreeGroupShoots.com, you are assured the same quality as has been practiced for years via the original events. These are the original free group shoots and we are now well into the fourth year of serving the Central Texas talent community.

To sign up, you must first register on the Texas Models & Talent Forum (TM&T). The first "G-Rated" forum message posting board in Texas, TM&T is the largest and most prolifically growing networking site of its type for models, actors, photographers, and other talent. The site features forums for Austin, San Antonio, Houston, and the Dallas-Ft. Worth areas. The forum site has well over 6,000 registered members!!!

At this time, FreeGroupShoots are conducted in the Austin area only. Dates for the next free event and electronic sign-up may be found in the above mentioned forum site. This new version of the FreeGroupShoots.com site will soon feature a more convenient electronic sign-up and schedule.
